Nathan

In a couple weeks Nathan will turn 3. He has been a huge joy for us...from his undying passion for his "passy" and "blankie" to his little voice saying all his "r's" as "w's" (cow=car, jafow=Jafar, powk=park), he has given us many moments of laughter. He loves to throw the frisbee and watch "cowtoons" as well as setting up his tracks and running his Thomas trains. But our little boy is growing by the minute and his 3rd birthday is right around the corner. Gone will be his passy and he will outgrow his "backa shoes" (basketball shoes). But I am excited to see what kind of young man he grows up to be. He has a sweet heart and loves to have us around "just right down in the base-a-ment, playing with me!" He carries a little bit of the defiance that is found on Amber's side of the family (not MINE of course :)) but he needs it to fend off the vast amounts of estrogen surrounding him on all sides. Can't wait to see what the Lord does with his life!

New Friends

Today Lauren's new friend Cassandra came over to play. Cassandra is one of two children that are foster children of our friends Brian and Maggie. They live just 6 houses away and now Lauren has a new friend right around the corner! It has been a blessing to have two good friends living near us, but now it is extra special that our kids have each other close by too. We look forward to watching their friendship grow. Here are some pics from their play time today.

Kids

Lauren started 1st grade a month ago and is loving it. I help out in her class on Wednesdays when they do computers, so it gives me a chance to see her interact with all of her classmates. I have to say that she does really well paying attention and copying the words off the board, which is more than I can say for myself at that age or even in high school :) She loves to draw, play games and making up stories, usually using someone else's story and putting her own twist on it.

Back at it

Wow...it's been over a year since I last posted :) Let me let you in on a little secret...I have too many places to "post" my life! From Facebook to Covenant Chapel's Website (http://www.covenantchapel.com/) to this blog, I have not been able to keep up. And this blog is the one that suffers. I don't even know how many people actually look at this, but probably not too many since I don't say anything for over a year. My best reason for posting is this: A great way to point people to pics of the kids and their funny little stories that I would forget unless I wrote them down.

So, who knows when you will read this, but here's to hoping that it won't be a year from now!

Peace,
Steve

Lolo

Lauren turned 4 this past June 14th. Wow. She is such a wonderful daughter and a beautiful little girl. She is very perceptive and doesn't let anything get past her. We're definitely in the stage where we have to watch what we say and how we say it. She entertains us with her dancing and singing and is developing a little sense of humor. She is in the stage of not wanting to be alone at all. That means a lot of following around and sitting outside the bathroom. We have had these huge tunderstorms lately, so we'll wake up to find her sandwiched between us in bed, her sweaty little body taking up a slice of mattress. She has brought us 4 years of joy. There have been some challenging times and I know the future holds more of those, but she is a huge blessing from the Lord. She brightens our days and gives us joy and happiness. She is our Button, our little Lolo.

The Bailey Grind

The website is a little slow these days because of the computer needing to be repaired, so here's an update on Bailey life...

After nearly a month, we are the only ones in our house. My parents came to visit (1 week) and then Amber's parents came to visit (1 week) and then the "workermen" (as Lauren calls them) came to remodel our bathroom (2 weeks). So, it is nice to sit and enjoy some silence.

Nathan is awesome. Such a cute little guy and very cuddly. But he's got gas. Big-time gas. I call him my little gas bag. You should hear the NASA-style launch sequences that go on in the depths of his diaper. Dang. Puts me to shame. Anyhow, life is busy, crazy, hectic, lovely, frantic, joyful, sleepless, peaceful, frustrating, and amazing all wrapped up into one. I love it.
